Treating patients with schizophrenia

The module will refresh your knowledge about the pharmacological treatment of schizophrenia.

Access to mental health services has been problematic during the Covid-19 pandemic and many patients are in need of support and care. At any one time a typical community pharmacy in the UK will be dispensing prescriptions for around 15 patients with schizophrenia.

This module will refresh your knowledge of the pharmacological and psychological treatment of schizophrenia including the common side-effects of antipsychotics and the impact on patients’ physical health.

It also identifies several areas where pharmacy teams can help improve health outcomes for patients diagnosed with schizophrenia.
