LloydsPharmacy has launched Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Connect service in seven of its pharmacies in the north west of England.
Parent company McKesson UK described the new Dementia Connect initiative as a service providing free, personalised advice and support through one point of referral, for people living with all types of dementia, as well as their carers and family members.
McKesson UK chief retail officer Kevin Birch said: “It is great that we are able to launch Dementia Connect in our stores. Often conversations like this can be quite challenging and patients tend to avoid them. However, as a lot of our pharmacy colleagues are part of the community where they are based, patients may feel more comfortable talking to them about any worries they have.”
Mr Birch added: “Hopefully by being the first pharmacy partner to promote the service, we can encourage other businesses to be a part of this incredible project.”
