Boots launches own brand Viagra
Boots has started selling its own brand of Viagra in 1,400 of its stores.
The multiple launched Boots Sildenafil to coincide with Men’s Health Week (June 13-19). The treatment is being sold without a prescription as a pharmacy medicine in its branches and on Boots.com.
It is charging £14.99 for a pack of four and £26.99 for a pack of eight, with patients buying the treatment online needing to complete a suitability assessment. Boots said it can deliver the medicine to homes.
Anyone buying the product in a Boots store will need to have a face-to-face consultation with one of its pharmacists.
“Erectile dysfunction is a common condition that affects most men at some point in their lives and is generally nothing to be worried or embarrassed about,” said Boots chief pharmacist Marc Donovan.
“There are some immediate steps that you can take to help with erectile dysfunction, such as making sure you are at a healthy weight by eating a balanced diet and regular exercise, trying to reduce stress and anxiety, reducing alcohol intake, getting enough sleep and stopping smoking.
“It is important to speak to a healthcare professional if you continue having ongoing problems in getting an erection, especially if you are under 40. Erectile dysfunction can impact a person’s wellbeing, confidence and relationships and in some cases, it may be a symptom of an underlying medical condition.”
