PAGB elects top Haleon exec to be its next president

Consumer healthcare association PAGB has appointed as its next president Bas Vorsteveld, Haleon’s vice-president and general manager for Great Britain and Ireland.

Mr Vorsteveld, who was recently elected to the position by the PAGB board, replaces Neil Lister, who is managing director UK & Ireland and vice-president at manufacturer Perrigo.

He will chair PAGB board meetings and help to establish the organisation’s strategic approach in what it describes as a “crucial time” as it “looks to expand the role of self-care, secure a long-term favourable business environment for members, adapt to environmental challenges and continue to deliver excellent services for members”.

Mr Vorsteveld said: “I am delighted to announce that I have today officially assumed the role of PAGB President. This is a hugely exciting role for a great organisation at a crucial time for our sector. I firmly believe that the UK OTC sector has a vital role to play in supporting people to manage their everyday health and wellbeing and look forward to playing my part in progressing PAGB’s message to self-care.

“I am looking forward to working towards these goals and facing whatever challenges may come over the next few years with the PAGB team and fellow board members to continue the good work and maintain and develop the UK’s role as a world leader in OTC.

“I want to thank Neil Lister who has done a fantastic job over the last four years; helping to see our sector through some really challenging times. He leaves PAGB and our sector in a very strong place.”

PAGB chief executive Michelle Riddalls said: “We are so pleased to welcome Bas to the role of President. Bas has been actively involved with PAGB as a board member and we’re looking forward to continuing our work with him. I have already seen from Bas’s time on our board that he combines great sector knowledge with drive, energy and genuine passion for what we do and we’re so excited to have him as our President.

“Bas’s input and guidance as our strategy evolves over the coming years will be vital as we respond to new challenges as they emerge and make the most of the opportunities ahead.”
